Colorful, cheerful and full of fun, Rio is a 3D bonanza for all ages. Voiced vivaciously by Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg and a cast full of talented characters, it’s a witty and engaging joy ride. The jumpy mix of South American beats lifts this fanfare and makes it a musical carnival to be devoured and relished by the senses. The makers of "ICE AGE" sure know what fun is all about.
Rio begins with the story of Blue, a rare species of Macaw that gets smuggled out of the colorful forests of Rio, only to be found by a little girl in Minnesota. She brings him up just like a pampered and bratty little human child and even loves him like one. Like the birds on the streets call him, he is the regular old nerd bird. Jessie Eisenberg’s voice and personality seem to scream from this nerdy blue macaw’s character. Years later, Blue is informed that he is the last male of his kind and he has to go to Rio to mate with the last female of his kind. Voiced by Anne Hathaway, Jewel turns out to be a fierce and beautiful freedom loving macaw, completely repulsed by Blue’s domesticated ways. Halfway through their wit and repartee, all hell breaks loose as they are kidnapped by goons looking to make a fortune. Their journey to freedom then becomes a fun filled adventure with a whole host of characters to add to the zing. The adorable domesticated Macaw eventually learns how to fly and conquers his fears of the jungle out there.
Verdict: Enjoy this joyride in 3D with your family. It’s surprisingly witty, hilarious and one and half hours of pure 3D fun.
