Lack of information about Rocket Singh has everyone intrigued, but its definitely worth the wait. The movie is pleasantly surprising and builds into a story one never expected. The vibrant-turbaned protagonist, Harpreet Singh (Ranbir Kapoor), lives with his grandfather (Prem Chopra) who has brought him up to be a straightforward, hardworking man, oblivious to the ways of the world. Freshly graduated from college, the lad sets out for his first job interview with an abysmal marksheet and zero experience. His eagerness lands him a job at the computer sales company, AYS, as the newest salesman. Working on field makes him realise that sales is all about smooth talking and false promises. A moralistic stand on his part against a bribe-hungry customer leads to the revelation that AYS works on corruption and only sees money as a target. Forbidden from working by his crooked and crude boss, he sits and bears ragging from his colleagues while they throw rockets at him, until one day the receptionist, Koena (Gauhar Khan) covertly hands him a couple of orders. The order turns out to be for a computer with software the company doesn’t sell and just as he is giving it up, the customer Ritu (Shazahn Padamsee)  charms him enough to go out of his way. Research leads to vital knowledge and with the help of an AYS computer engineer, he assembles and sells his first computer under the name of  ‘Rocket Sales Corp’. Slowly and steadily they build a team of 5 with AYS employees including a peon! Rocket Sales starts working from the same office. With a policy of honesty, priority of service over sales and a target of customer happiness they build a loyal clientele and AYS has their competition sitting right in their pocket! Just as Rocket plans to move out, the distraught boss discovers and reports them to the police. Whether Harpreet’s honesty and integrity has a place in this bureaucratic world is what the final outcome decides. The movie runs smoothly and the plot is well thought out. The audience will be able to identify with the office environment and the people. The dialogue and situations are real, the language current and humor witty. Ranbir wins your heart as the sincere yet determined Singh, who is so fair that he actually keeps an account of the office facilities used for personal purposes and pays the credit! Gauhar Khan fits the part as a hot, blunt receptionist and Shazahn is fresh and bubbly. The entire cast has great chemistry and casting couldn’t have been better. The supporting actors get a good platform and the characters would make for interesting caricatures. Bang on expressions and comic timing make sure there isn’t a dull moment. Shimit Amin proves himself again with an entertainer with a strong underlying message. ‘Rocket’ sums it up perfectly when he tells his boss "sales, figures ke baare mein nahi, logon ke bare mein hai. Log khush honge toh figures apne aap badhenge." We need more movies like this which get the message across to the masses at a relatable level. Rocket Singh is a must watch [rating:4] Contributed by Raashi Malhotra
