Rukh: Film Review – A Brilliant Portrayal Of An Intense Tale

Verdict: An intriguing story that shows you the right way of seeking closure.

Manoj Bajpayee is undoubtedly an excellent actor and with Rukh, you get to see another aspect of the actor's persona and talent amongst other immensely talented actors. Director Atanu Mukherjee chose a mystery thriller for his debut and after watching the movie you can say that Bollywood has got another gem of a director.

What's Rukh About:

The movie revolves around Dhruv (Adarsh Gourav), who is trying to find some answers related to his father's (played by Manoj Bajpayee) death. He is unaware of his family issues since he lives in a boarding school for the past three years. This unexpected accident followed by his family's silence makes him determined to find the reason behind his father's death. As he goes forward in his pursuit, he learns about the many unexpected aspects of his father's life.

Rukh movie review - BookMyShow

What Works:

The film is an intimate portrayal of a family. It takes into consideration finer references to show situations that are relatable to everyone with a family. The story of the movie keeps you hooked regardless of the slow movement of the screenplay because of its realistic picturization. The director gives you enough time to understand the conscience of every character through the pace of the movie.

The movie scores full marks when it comes to performance. Every character is detailed and played with perfection. While Manoj Bajpayee's impresses as always, the person who surprises you most in this movie is Adarsh Gourav. He has played a son who is away from home when his father dies and is later kept away from the intricacies of the death. He played the heart-broken yet strong character like he has been living it for long. Smita Tambe looks real and convincing as a widow and a mother. Every cast member delivered exactly what was required of them.

The movie intends to show different aspects of a single situation. It portrays how things may look like in a situation and what the actual story is. It is more about knowing yourself and letting go of something that lies in the past. The story traps you and you'll like the impact of it, however dark it may seem.

What Could Have Been Better:

The pace of the movie is evidently slow which makes it a little boring at times. The intent is to give you the time to absorb the instances. If you have a knack for fast-paced movies, then this might come across as a slow boring one, but if you are into multilayered mysteries that require you to analyze different aspects, this one is for you.

Why You Should Watch This Movie:

Rukh is a different take on a situation that is not so unusual. It makes you stay there and think, yet asks you to forget and move on. It asks you to introspect and seek answers to questions that have been long bothering you. Watch the movie for an amazing portrayal of a story and its great performances. We highly recommend you not to miss this one.
