Every actor in Bollywood likes to release his film during the festive season as it guarantees a bumper opening at the box office. Diwali, Eid and Christmas are favorites amongst the Bollywood stars and these slots are booked almost a year or two in advance. Generally, one of the Khans, Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan or Ranbir Kapoor have their movies releasing on big festivals. While Christmas is supposed to be lucky for Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan’s movies that hit theatres on Diwali, mostly fare well. Coming to Eid, it is Salman Khan all the way. In fact, here are five of his films that released on the auspicious day, and yes, all of them were blockbusters.
This is the film that started it all. Salman Khan’s career got a huge boost with Wanted as people loved to see the star in an action-packed film. Directed by Prabhu Deva, Wanted was one of the biggest hits of 2009.
Now who doesn't love Chulbul Pandey? He is one of the funniest cops that we have seen in Bollywood films, and since the character got so popular, the makers went to on make the second part of the franchise. Unfortunately, the sequel of this 2010 release, Dabangg 2, didn't do as well as the original film.
Ek Tha Tiger
In spite of being in the industry for over two decades, Salman Khan had worked with Bollywood's biggest production house, Yash Raj Films. All of this changed when Khan gave his nod to Kabir Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger which was backed by Aditya Chopra. The movie did exceptionally well, and now Bhai will be seen in Yash Raj Films’ upcoming production, Sultan. This movie, too, will release on Eid.
Sajid Nadiadwala is known as one of the top producers in Bollywood and Kick was the first film that he directed. Nadiadwala and Khan were friends for years so it was easy for Sajid to get the superstar on board for his directorial debut. Khan was paired opposite Jacqueline Fernandez in this 2014 film.
After Ek Tha Tiger, this was Salman Khan’s second film with Kabir Khan. Bajrangi Bhaijaan had a heart-warming story and Khan's character, Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi, won many hearts. The critics, too, gave it a thumbs-up. This Eid 2015 release is the second Bollywood film to earn more than INR 300 crores at the box office, the first one being Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots.
