Sarabhai vs Sarabhai Take 2 – What’s New and What Hasn’t Changed

The new season of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai starts today. Labelled Sarabhai vs Sarabhai Take 2, the cast reprises all of its best characters including Maya (Ratna Pathak Shah), Monisha (Rupali Ganguly), Indravadan (Satish Shah), Sahil (Sumeet Raghavan), Rosesh (Rajesh Kumar), and the hilarious Dushyant (Deven Bhojani) and Madhusudan (Arvind Vaidya). Joining the cast are Aishwarya Sakhuja as Sonya, Maya and Indravadan’s daughter and Dushyant’s wife, and Sahil and Monisha’s son, Arnab. The first episode is already up on Hotstar and we cannot contain our excitement. If you haven’t watched the episode already, here’s what you need to look forward to:

Monisha is still “middle-class”.

The best bit about this show is the banter between Maya and Monisha, owing to the latter’s "typically middle-class" behavior. Rest assured, this gag is still very much a part of the show, and Monisha’s antics only get funnier.

Rosesh’s career has finally picked up.

Apart from writing poetry, the youngest Sarabhai sibling is now going to be a part of a TV show labeled Bahu Macchar Beta Khacchar. Needless to say, Rosesh plays the role of the khacchar’, much to the amusement of his father.

Dushyant is still a gadget maniac.

Expect Dushyant’s 2 am calls to Indravadan warning him not to buy a German missile. This crazy son-in-law, played by the director of the show, is one of its best recurring characters and is a part of the first episode itself.

Madhusudan Phoopha has become hilariously deafer.

Hain-Hain Kumar’ is back! Only, here’s a lot less of ‘hains’ and a lot more of incorrect hearing. The partially deaf relative of the Sarabhai family is the best recurring character – second only to Dushyant – and will leave you in splits.

Sahil and Monisha’s kid is an amalgamation of all the characters.

A man is known by the company he keeps. But what if your company is a range of diverse characters? You become a bit of them all! Arnab (fondly referred to as ‘Guddu’ by Monisha, much to Maya’s chagrin) is sophisticated like his grandma but likes to watch saas-bahu serials with his ma.

Rosesh has a new love interest.

Rosesh is still very much single but his luck seems to be changing. An old co-actor returns to the city, whom the mama’s boy takes a sudden liking to. But mama isn’t happy about the growing feelings her favorite son seems to have for this ‘Juliet from Jamnagar’.

Episode 1 will simply remind you how much you missed this show.

The old characters are back, but they are better and funnier than before. Their typical characteristics remain, the inclusion of new characters has given the series new meat, and the show is available to watch for free on Hotstar, as many times as you want to.
