Savitri: Film Review – Love is in the Air

Verdict: Enthralling family entertainer

Savitri is Nara Rohit’s ninth movie after Tuntari and Pavan Sadineni’s second directorial venture after Prema Ishq Kadhal. For the first time, Nara Rohit has been paired up with Nandita in this movie.

Savitri begins with establishing the traditional family values of Savitri (Nandita) in the most beautiful way. Savitri meets Rishi (Nara Rohit) in a train on her way to Shirdi. It is love at first sight for Rishi, a doctor by profession. The rest of the movie is interwoven in the beautiful chemistry between the lead pair and one has to watch the movie on the big screen to relish this experience.

It takes perfect planning to churn out quality products one after the other in no matter of time and Nara Rohit seems to have made it a habit. He needs to be commended for picking a variety of characters and releasing his movies every month. Nara Rohit comes out a clear winner in terms of choosing the right scripts and excels in acting and dialogue diction. He makes his debut as a singer with the song Maar Maar Teenmar in the movie.

Nandita is adorable in the role of Savitri. She emotes through her eyes and connects easily with the audience with her traditional looks and satire. She has taken Savitri to the next levelMurali Sharma (Dora Babu) excels as Savitri’s father. Dhanya Balakrishna as Savitri’s elder sister is beautiful and has done justice to her role. The rest of the cast too ably supports the movie with decent performances.

It took a couple of years to come up with a bound script in the form of Savitri for Pavan Sadineni. Though his first movie Prema Ishq Kadhal has been critically acclaimed, it is Savitri that gives him the much-needed commercial break. Pavan’s story telling works while the dialogues penned by Krishna Chaitanya are impressive. Shravan’s music and background score is a treat. The editing is crisp and Goutham Neresu can accept all the kudos he gets.

Why You Should Watch This Movie:

Love stories have universal acceptance and when entangled with family drama is a treat to watch. Savitri is a definite watch for families.
