Aamir Khan is known for his perfectionist take on cinema. He has acted in and produced some of the highest grossing movies of Bollywood, which are also critically acclaimed. After Dangal – the highest grossing film of Bollywood so far – his next venture is Secret Superstar, where he has united with his Dangal co-star, Zaira Wasim. After more than half a year of releasing the teaser of the movie, the trailer is finally out, and it looks like the next big thing of Bollywood.
Secret Superstar is the story of Insia, a girl who dreams to be a famous singer one day. She has a supporting mother, but a very high-headed and conservative father. He doesn't allow her to follow her dreams and breaks her guitar when she tries to pursue singing. After having her dreams shattered by her father, she starts posting videos on YouTube and becomes a viral sensation. However, she doesn't disclose her identity.
This movie is like a mix of Aamir's previous movies. It has a struggling kid with a strict father (Taare Zameen Par), it deals with women empowerment (Dangal), and it also portrays a family where kids do not have the freedom to choose their career (3 Idiots). While it reminds us of his previous work, this is a very different story of a girl who dares to tread on a path that may lead her nowhere.
Aamir has played many characters so far and has taken them to an all new level, with his dedication and pursuit of perfection. In this movie, he plays a successful music director Shakti Kumar. The trailer shows him helping Insu, but not much is revealed. Like Dangal, this movie doesn't revolve around Aamir either, but his character is quirky and detailed as always. While people thought he is doing a cameo as a show judge in the film, the trailer shows he is an important character.
Here are the highlights of the trailer launch:
Zaira was appraised for her work in Dangal and looks promising as Insu too. She is in an all new avatar from short hair to a typical Muslim girl from a conservative family. Meher Vij is playing her mother and Raj Arjun plays the strict ruthless father. The movie takes us back to Taare Zameen Par, and some people have also started to call it a musical version of TZP.
The Advait Chandan directorial is slated to release on 19th October 2017, where it may clash with Rohit Shetty's Golmaal Again. Aamir Khan has never disappointed us with his selection of scripts and characters. We are really looking forward to this one.
