Does lust have anything to do with age? It doesn’t! At least that’s what The Shaukeens make us believe. Directed by Abhishek Sharma (of Tere Bin Laden fame), this comedy drama is the remake of the 1982 film, Shaukeen. It highlights the frustrated lives of three 60-something men, who decide to bend the rules and reinstate themselves as the new dudes on the block.
The film brings together three veteran actors – Anupam Kher as Lali, Piyush Mishra as Pinky and Annu Kapoor as K.D. Their chemistry as three sexually-frustrated men is one of the significant highlights of the film. However, it is Akshay Kumar, who strangely plays a spoof on himself and steals the show with his brilliant comic timing.
The three older men decide to head to Mauritius in order to fulfill their desires. Here, they end up meeting the sultry fashion designer, Aahna
(Lisa Haydon), who is obsessed with Facebook and Akshay Kumar. Now, will the three men be able to achieve their motives or not, forms the integral part of the story.
The trio of Anupam Kher, Piyush Mishra and Annu Kapoor appear in never-seen-before avatars. They effortlessly carry out their respective roles with elan. The female lead, Lisa Haydon delivers a sterling performance throughout. However, it is the ultimate Khiladi, who with his striking screen presence and hilarious dialogue delivery, will get you rolling on the floor laughing.
Apart from the stupendous cast and their wonderful performances, the plot has nothing new to offer. The songs are mediocre and situation-based. Nevertheless, watch out for the cameos by several A-list actors and the end credits.
Why you should watch this film? The Shaukeens is light-hearted comedy with some really good humorous scenes that will tickle your funny bones. Overall, the film leaves a pleasant feeling and is stress-busting. So go along with your family and friends and enjoy this hilarious caper this weekend.
