This Diwali, there will be destruction. That may be the tagline of the film, Shivaay, but we can surely expect a few fireworks at the box office, too. After all, Ajay Devgn’s most ambitious project is clashing with Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. The latter was initially supposed to hit theatres on June 3rd, 2016, but Johar decided to shift the date as films that release around Diwali fare much better. This didn't go down well with Ajay and it also caused a rift between best friends, Kajol and Karan Johar. There's so much more happening around both these films, and you can read all about it here!
The makers of both the movies have successfully managed to keep the story under wraps. While the trailer of Shivaay made it look like a thriller, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil seems to be a romantic drama with all the elements of a typical Dharma film.
Most parts of Shivaay have been shot in Bulgaria and we must say that the visuals looked stunning in the trailer. Devgn spent months in the country and even battled the rough weather to wrap up the film in time. Karan Johar, too, loves to shoot his films abroad and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has been filmed in Paris, Vienna, and other parts of Europe. The last schedule of the movie though was shot in Rajasthan.
While content is king, a clever marketing strategy always guarantees a good opening at the box office. Karan Johar’s team seems to be going all out to promote Ae Dil Hai Mushkil on social networking websites. The director also chose to release two songs from the film, even before the trailer is out. Well, the strategy worked as both the tracks, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Bulleya, are topping the charts. Ajay Devgn, on the other hand, has not started the promotional activities for his film, and besides the trailer, only one track has been launched.
Kamaal R. Khan, who is known for his tweets on Bollywood movies, recently started heaping praise on Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. While it seemed like it was his genuine opinion, Ajay Devgn thought otherwise. A few days back, Devgn released an audio clip in which Khan was reportedly asking for money to promote Shivaay and claimed that he was paid by KJo to trash the film. No one knows about the authenticity of the recorded clip but that itself has created enough controversy around the clash.
Will Kajol and KJo re-unite? Will ADHM resurrect Ranbir's career? Which of the two films will finally conquer the box office? Diwali 2016 will bring us the answer to at least one of these questions.
