From Aanand L Rai, the director of Tanu Weds Manu, comes yet another love story set in the colorful landscape of a small Indian town. No, Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan is nothing like what you imagine it to be. The movie starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles deals with an intimate issue no one would ever want to talk about. We saw the lead couple stealing away all the attention in the YRF production Dum Laga Ke Haisha and we hope they spread the same magic in this one too.
The trailer for Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is out and we cannot hold the excitement due to the topic the film is touching upon. From the look of it, we understand that the film is about a couple, whose marriage is arranged by their families, and are now enjoying their golden courtship period until disaster strikes their sexual life.
The dialogues and visuals find a perfect balance between sexual vulgarity and slapstick humor, thus using the right words and symbolism to depict the `dysfunctional` relationship between the couple and their families. The cinematography and even the characters will remind you of Tanu Weds Manu, but they leave enough impact to make you want to watch the movie in theatres.
India needs such movies that are not just entertaining but shout out loud about things everyone should know. Indians are extremely private by nature, and anything related to our personal lives stays hidden. Anand L Rai is doing a fantastic job by talking about the problem of erectile dysfunction, which is a reality.
The film is slated for release on September 1. Stay tuned for more updates on the film and do not forget to read our BMS review for Shubh Mangal Saavdhan.
