SIIMA 2015 – Dhanush, Shruthi Haasan and Rana Daggubati shine at this glitzy event!

 Award shows are a great way to honour stalwarts of the film industry. Irrespective of when they are held; they are always interesting. The last weekend was a special one. The popular stars of the South Indian film industry were present at one of the most prestigious award ceremonies – the South Indian International  Movie Awards (SIIMA). With celebrities from the Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam film industries, the glamour quotient at this event that was held on the 5th and 6th of August in Dubai, was incredible. The two-day event was preceded by press-meets, red-carpet events and promotions on social media. Here’s a summary of all that happened at the awards: 

Day 1:
 
 
 
 
The winners from the Telugu and Kannada film industries were felicitated on the first day. One witnessed some high-voltage performances by Usha Uthup and Pooja Hegde.
 
 
The red-carpet saw Bollywood beauties – Malaika Arora, Aditi Rao Hydari, Esha Gupta and Adah Sharma present at the event too. 
 
The red-carpet was graced by women in floral lehengas, embellished gowns, and bright coloured dresses with plunging necklines.
 
 
Baahubali star Rana Daggubati looked majestic in Indian attire, while Dhanush look smart in his suit. Kannada star Yash looked handsome at the event.  Allu Arjun turned up all dapper in his tuxedo. Little wonder he received the award for Most Stylish star at the event.
 
Day 2: 
 
 
The awards for Tamil and Malayalam industries were given away on the second day. Nivin Pauly received the Best Actor award from his idol Mohanlal, and couldn’t stop gushing about it. 
 
 
Dhanush bagged the top honours at SIIMA. While VIP won 9 awards, Kaththi didn’t lag behind. Dhanush took to twitter to thank SIIMA and all his fans. Legendary director Bharathiraj was felicitated with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the movie industry.

Best Villain – Neil Nitin Mukesh for Kaththi
Best Comedian – Vivek for VIP
Best Debut Actor – Chandran for Kayal
Best Debut Actress – Catherine Tresa for Madras
Best Debut Director – Velraj for VIP
Best Supporting Actor (Male) –  Bobby Simhaa for Jigarthanda
Best Supporting Actor (Female) – Saranya Ponvannan for VIP
