One of our most favorite Indian festivals is around the corner. The festival of colors, water balloons and bhaang, Holi, is the one day when you just want to shed all your inhibitions and let your hair down. Most of us already have our Holi plans sorted and are all geared up and armed with our colors and water balloons. So while you are busy getting excited about how you are going to spend this day with your friends and family, you may just want to spend time on taking some extra care of your skin and hair on this day. All you have to do is follow the tips shared here and you are all set to play with those dark stubborn colors.
Oiling:Oiling your hair and exposed parts of your skin is extremely important before you play Holi. It is necessary to prep your skin for those harmful chemicals that it is going to exposed to.
So make sure that you take ample amount of coconut or baby oil and apply it on your skin as well as hair. It’s ok even if you look like a school going girl who has been forced to oil her hair, you are only going to thank us later.
Sunscreen: Most of us play Holi in our building societies or clubs and resorts which have an open ground. So if you know you are going to be exposed to the sun for a long time, make sure you apply a generous amount of sunscreen with a high SPF to avoid tanning.
Nails:Those stubborn colors can cause great damage to your nails and also leave them looking ugly. So to protect your nails, apply a dark nail paint and apply some moisturizer to the cuticles of your nails so that they don’t dry up due to the colors.
Lips and eyes:If you wear lenses, please avoid wearing them while playing Holi. Your eyes will anyway be exposed to loads of chemicals and you do not want to keep thinking about how you should prevent your lenses. For lips, apply a good quality lip balm that will keep your lips from cracking.
Post holi care:Post care is equally important, since those stubborn colors can be a task to wash off. One of the tricks is to massage oil to your skin and use a tissue to take off the colors. It much easier and less harmful than scrubbing your face and hands with soap. Also, for those who have a sensitive skin, avoid being too harsh on your face to take off the colors. Watch the video below for our secret scrub recipe, which will make life much simpler for you.Hope these tips help you take care of your hair and skin. Don’t forget to share the same with your friends and family. And of course, have a fun and safe Holi.
