Jab Harry Met Sejal: Sound Check – A Gujju-Panju Musical Combo

Verdict:  Pritam re-creates the 90s magic.

In a time where remaking retro songs has become 'the' trend, the JHMS album really took us by surprise. The album sounds fresh and with the release of every new song, it only gets better. We realized that not only are the songs original but also catchy and it's pretty difficult to stop humming them once you've heard it. Then again, with an Imtiaz Ali film and Pritam's composition, could we expect anything other than a masterpiece? Now since you already know that we are in love with the album, we thought of breaking it down and give you a song-wise review for each.

Radha

Main Bani Teri Radha has a fair amount of retro and a fair amount of contemporary music and is a balanced mix of Hindi and Punjabi. Sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Shahid Mallya, this number is an ideal one for any mood.

Butterfly

Shown in a Ye Mausam Ka Jaadu Hai Mitwa kinda setup, this song emphasizes more on the Punjabi Culture and it's extremely energetic. Wedding or party, this song could be your dance number for both.

Safar

When meaningful lyrics and a melodious tune merge, Safar happens. Safar is just the kind of song one would want to listen to on a gloomy day driving back home. Irshad Kamil and Pritam may have just given us the song of the year.

Beech Beech Mein

Beech Beech Mein is somewhat like the club song you need when you have almost everything else from a wedding song to a romantic song covered in your album. No, it's not bad. It can totally qualify as your new party song for the season.

Hawayein

We were almost certain that the best song of the movie was out when Safar released but this one got us a little confused. Arijit's voice and Shah Rukh Khan's charm may have made us nostalgic but they have managed to recreate the 90s magic even 20 years later.

So as we said, we're in love with all the tracks. Tell us what do you think in the comments below. Keep visiting this space for more updates and don't forget to read our review of Jab Harry Met Sejal here.
