When South Megastars Shared Screen Space

We all know how big Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, Jr. NTR, Vikram, Mammootty, Pawan Kalyan, Vijay and  Upendra are in their respective industries. They are some of the biggest superstars in the South Indian film fraternity. But can you imagine them sharing screen space? How amazing would that be! These superstars are rarely seen together on the big screen but when they are, there is bound to be a dhamaka! How can anything go wrong when you put together two leading names of the South film industry in one movie? Just in case you forgot, worry not, we have put together a list of the numerous times these superstars have worked together.

Jr. NTR and Mohanlal in Janatha Garage:

Tollywood superstar, Jr. NTR and Mohanlal, the Mollywood superstar are the biggest names in their respective film industries. This power-packed duo has come together for the first time in the movie, Janatha Garage which releases on the 1st of September. This movie also stars another Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan who is one of the popular new generation actors from Mollywood. This is the third time Mohanlal will be seen in a Telugu movie. His first appearance was a cameo in the movie Gandeevam (1994) and his second was the recently released blockbuster Manamantha, directed by Chandra Sekhar Yeleti.  Mohanlal has always had a huge fan following in Kerala and now after his back to back superhits in Tollywood, it seems like he would have one there, too.
Mohanlal and Vijay in Jilla:

Mohanlal has acted in Tamil movies like Popcorn (2003) and Iruvar (1997) but it was in the movie Jilla (2014) that he shared the screen with the Tamil superstar Vijay. Mohanlal was seen playing Vijay’s adopted father’s role and both the stars were impressive in their respective roles. It was a real treat to watch the two mass-appeal stalwarts of South Indian cinema together.
Upendra and Allu Arjun in S/O Satyamurthy:

Upendra, the Kannada superstar has worked in many Telugu movies like Kanyadanam, Oke Maata and Toss but it was in S/O Satyamurthy (2015) that he shared screen space with the Tollywood megastar Allu Arjun. In this film, Upendra was seen as a Tamilian landlord in Madurai. Even though Upendra enters the film only in the second half, his screen presence and raw emotions stand out as one of the major highlights of the movie.

Rajinikanth and Mammootty in Thalapathi:

The biggest superstar in India, Rajinikanth, teamed up with Mollywood superstar Mammootty in a Mani Ratnam masterpiece – Thalapathi – in 1991 .The movie emphasized the touching friendship between Devaraj and Surya played by Mammootty and Rajinikanth, respectively.The movie was a blockbuster hit, and why wouldn't it be!
Vikram and Prithviraj in Raavanan:

Another masterpiece from Mani Ratnam was the Tamil movie Raavanan (2010), which saw the good-looking duo of Vikram and Prithviraj together. This movie turned out to be a blockbuster and was even remade in Hindi. The Malayalam movie star, Prithviraj, played the character of a cop in search of his wife played by the beautiful Aishwarya Bachchan, who gets kidnapped by Vikram’s character Veeraiya, a bandit leader. It was a visual treat to watch Vikram and Prithviraj together in the movie.
