They act in the ring, so they might as well act in movies. As kids, we all believed that the staged stunts on WWE were real and enjoyed it to the core. So when our favorite wrestlers tried their luck in films, it added another feather to their hat! However, not everyone was lucky, and only some of them made it big and how! Here are 5 WWE superstars who ventured into Hollywood and flexed their acting chops along with their muscles:

1. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
Dwayne Johnson’s acting career took off with The Scorpion King, where he played the role of Mathayus. Though he was first seen in a brief role in The Mummy Returns, his popularity in the wrestling world helped him garner tremendous success in Hollywood. Post the success of The Scorpion King, Dwayne acted in films like The Rundown, Walking Tall, etc. which were moderately successful. Soon, The Rock turned out to be one of the most recognized actors in mainstream cinema. Thanks to films such as G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Fast Five and Hercules, he scaled great heights in his acting career. Dwayne will soon be seen in Furious 7, reprising the role of Luke Hobbs.
2. Kevin Nash
Kevin Nash made his Hollywood debut as Super Shredder in the 1991 flick Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze. Unfortunately, we couldn’t see Nash as Sabretooth in X-men, who was the first choice for the role. He then starred in the 2004 film The Punisher, where he was accidentally stabbed with a real knife. Nash also featured in the Adam Sandler film, The Longest Yard alongside a host of other WWE stars. This year, the veteran wrestler will reprise his role of Tarzan in Magic Mike XXL, a sequel of the 2012 comedy-drama, Magic Mike. Apart from films, Kevin Nash has appeared in a total of twenty-two video games as Diesel (his ring name) and Kevin Nash.
3. Jesse Ventura
American politician Jesse Ventura began his acting career after his wrestling days nearly came to an end. He made his debut in the 1987 cult classic Predator, as Blain. Jesse soon became friends with Arnold Schwarzenegger and appeared with him in plenty of films. He was cast in supporting roles in The Running Man, Batman and Robin and many more. Ventura was last seen as Governor Littleton in the 2014 thriller, The Drunk.
4. David Michael Bautista Jr.

David Michael Bautista Jr. came to limelight as Drax The Destroyer in last year’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Popularly known by his ring name Batista, David starred in quite a few movies before he finally got a taste of box office success. Guardians of the Galaxy turned out to be a huge hit, and Batista’s role was highly appreciated by the audience. Touted as an actor with huge potential, Batista will now feature in the remake of Kickboxer (1989).
5. Roderick George Toombs
One of the first wrestlers to enter Hollywood, Roddy Piper enjoyed considerable success outside WWE. From starring in Cyndi Lauper’s music video to TV series like Robocop, Piper was all over the place. His first lead role came in the 1986 movie, Body Slam. Though, his most well-known role was in Hell Comes to Frogtown. Piper has been in Hollywood long enough, and continues to be actively involved till date.
Hollywood is now becoming a trend with these WWE superstars who not only have a dynamic personality, but surprisingly, acting skills as well. Popular wrestlers like John Cena, Randy Orton are also slowly venturing into the acting industry, giving their fans another reason to be happy. We hope Hollywood finds more such actors from the wrestling world.
