John Cena – From The Ring to The Screen

Wrestler John Felix Anthony Cena turns 39 today, April 23. Maybe we can’t call him just a wrestler anymore. He is also a professional rapper, actor and TV host. Credited by WWE as the organization’s public face, he has served as its franchise player since 2005 and has headlined its flagship event Wrestlemania on five occasions.

Starting his pro-wrestling career in 1999, he has won 24 championships so far. But, as said before, he is not just about wrestling anymore. Apart from wrestling, Cena has released the rap album You Can’t See Me, which debuted at No. 15 on the US Billboard 200 chart. He has also made appearances on TV shows including Manhunt, Deal or No Deal, MADtv, Saturday Night Live, Parks and Recreation, Psych and Punk’d. He also won the third position in the Fast Cars and Superstars: The Gillette Young Guns Celebrity Race.

One of the biggest philanthropic causes that he supports is the Make-A-Wish Foundation, where he has granted the most wishes in the foundation’s history. Yes, he has already crossed the 500 mark last year itself. Not just that, he has also starred in 14 feature films – here are his most popular ones:

The Marine (2006)
Directed by John Bonito, the action film stars Cena in the lead role. It was produced by the films division of WWE, called WWE Studios, and distributed in the United States by 20th Century Fox.

Trainwreck (2015)
This rom-com, starring Amy Schumer and Bill Hader, features Cena as a gym addict. This could very well be his most successful film so far.
