Next month, Anil Kapoor’s son Harshvardhan Kapoor will be making his debut with the film Mirzya. The movie is directed by none other than Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and is said to be the filmmaker's most ambitious project till date. Mirzya will also be the first film of Harshvardhan's co-star Saiyami Kher. The actress is related to Shabana Azmi and has worked in a Telugu film. However, even though these two young actors come from famous families, there's no guarantee that their movie will be a hit. In the past too, many hyped debut films of star kids failed to work wonders at the box-office. Find out more about them below.
Saawariya (Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor)
When your first film is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, you’d expect it to do well. Unfortunately, for Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, Saawariya bombed and how. The movie, which released alongside Shah Rukh Khan’s Om Shanti Om, was out of theaters within a week.
Refugee (Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor)
Kareena Kapoor was approached to work opposite Hrithik Roshan in his debut film Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai. The actress, however, gave her nod to J. P. Dutta's Refugee, which would also mark the debut of Abhishek Bachchan. Well, she must have regretted her decision as Refugee was declared a flop. The debacle was a shock for the Bachchans too.
Hero (Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty)
Salman Khan has given many actors a big break in Bollywood and last year; he produced the debut film of two star-kids – Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty. Hero was a remake of Subhash Ghai’s 1983 film of the same name. Besides the catchy title track, nothing else about the film was appreciated.
Sssshhh… (Tanishaa Mukerji)
Unlike her sister, Kajol, Tanishaa Mukerji failed to make a mark in the Hindi film industry. Her debut film was the 2003 thriller Sssshhh… and it sank without a trace. Tanishaa’s subsequent films failed too, and now she is best known for being a part of the popular TV show, Bigg Boss.
Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe (Esha Deol)
In spite of being Hema Malini and Dharmendra's daughter, Esha didn't manage to get a dream launch in Bollywood. Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche was her first movie but it was her second film, Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, which got her recognition.
Teen Patti (Shraddha Kapoor)
No, Aashiqui 2 was not her debut movie nor was it Luv Ka The End. Shraddha Kapoor was launched with the film Teen Patti. It starred Amitabh Bachchan but was a disaster at the box-office. In fact, it was only after Aashiqui 2 that Shraddha started getting noticed by the top filmmakers.
