"Breathe" is the first word that we hear from Luke Skywalker's voice since we saw The Return of the Jedi (1983). And we are glad since it served as a reminder to all the fans to breathe while they saw the teaser of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Luke who was absent for most of The Force Awakens didn't stop at that and ended the trailer with a line, which surely gave us goosebumps. Although there was some raw footage of the movie released, the charm of a well-crafted teaser which `gives something away but leaves you wanting more` is unmatched.
We already know that The Last Jedi starts exactly where The Force Awakens ended. Also, it was obvious that parallels will be drawn between this movie and The Empire Strikes Back because as we all know, it's training time. George Lucas had promised us that this time they will be delving deeper into the Jedi lore and from the teaser, he has kept his promise. We see Luke on Ahch-To which is considered to be the birthplace of the Jedi. We also catch a glimpse of the Jedi tree and the Journal of Whills (which was incidentally the working title of the first movie). This journal is vital to the Star Wars lore and might finally reveal the secrets of the lore.
The teaser also gave us glimpses of General Leia, Finn, and Poe assuring us that they will be back in this movie. We also catch glimpses of Rey's training as she tries to control the force and battle her way with the help of a lightsabre. Millenium Falcon makes an appearance amidst a battle and it feels wonderful to see it in action. The war is still on and the battles have not ceased as we see the Resistance under attack and a lot of TIE fighters and A-Wings marching into battle. BB-8 and R2D2 make an appearance, although they are very brief ones. Kylo Ren sans his mask is also shown battle ready with his improved lightsabre.
True to the tradition of teasers, this one doesn't give much away. After all these glimpses, what will astound you will be Luke's last words as the teaser ends. "It's the time for the Jedi to end". Listening to these words led to a lot of questions. Has Luke finally succumbed to the Dark Side like his father? Will there be two Sith again? Or will the balance be finally restored erasing the line between the Jedi and the Sith? As we think about this, Christmas will come and our questions will be answered. Have you seen the trailer yet? If not, watch it below and don't forget to share. In a galaxy far far away, the power of the Force resonates with strength.
