Using a Regular Conditioner
Curly hair is very often dry and rough. While you can use a regular conditioner, it is highly recommended to use a deep conditioner once in every few washes. Another tip is to keep the conditioner on for at least half an hour. This ensures that the hair looks smooth and bouncy.
Skipping a Hair Cut
If you are planning on growing your hair out, you’d prefer not to cut it for a while. However, curly hair needs regular trims in order to stay in shape. It is advised to get your curls trimmed every three months for them to look good.
Too Much Heat
Heat tools may help in styling but using them on a regular basis will damage and dry your hair. Using straighteners and diffusers can also cause breakage and split ends. So, cut down on the heat and only use them when necessary.
Shampooing Too Often
It is often said that shampoo your hair every day to keep your scalp clean. But doing so will strip your hair of its natural oils. If you are keen on washing your hair daily, try co-washing. This means you only apply conditioner and wash it, while using shampoo every alternate day.
Brushing Hair When Dry
Curly hair should only be combed or brushed when it is wet. Brushing or combing your curls when they are dry, will open them up, and cause frizz. Now, you definitely don’t want that!
