Tamil comedy legend, meme-icon and gif-king Vadivelu is planning to debut in a web-series and is currently working with his Marudhamalai director, Suraj to make it happen. The series is supposed to be nine episodes long, venturing into the horror-comedy genre.

Vadivelu, who hasn’t taken up a project for the last three years, had previously announced his comeback with Kamal Haasan’s much-awaited movie, Thalaivan Irukkiraan. The film was supposed to be the sequel to Haasan’s 1992 hit, Thevar Magan. The project got postponed due to the global coronavirus outbreak.

Hence, Vadivelu has decided to forge on into the digital stream. Suraj gave him a movie script and the Chandramukhi actor was quite impressed by it. Vadivelu himself had suggested Suraj adapt the screenplay for a web-series as it is the on-going trend at the moment.

There were speculations last week that both Vadivelu and Suraj were working on the sequel to their 2006 hit, Thalai Nagaram with Sundar C in the lead role. The duo has started with pre-production work, keeping in mind, the guidelines amidst the coronavirus outbreak.

Vadivelu has initiated talks with OTT giants Netflix, Amazon and Hotstar.
