Actions films in Bollywood are known for their flare, drama, hyped stunt sequences, and exaggerated fights. So, get ready for some over-the-top entertainment that will send your boredom far far away.

Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty

This film stars Akshay Kumar and revolves around a military officer who is determined to hunt and knock down a terrorist who plans to rip Mumbai apart. This blockbuster film went on to be one of the highest-grossing films for the first half of 2014.

The Dhoom Franchise

Dhoom is synonymous with high-octane action films that are over-the-top but widely loved. With each part of Dhoom, the action sequences got more intense as did the storyline. The first installation of Dhoom featured John Abraham as a high-profile thief and Abhishek Bachchan as the trustworthy cop. Dhoom 2 and Dhoom 3 continued to have Abhishek has the cop determined to bring down high-profile criminals. While Dhoom 2 featured Hrithik Roshan as the criminal, Dhoom 3 starred Aamir Khan as the villain who committed various robberies.

The Don Franchise

Don started out with Amitabh Bachchan playing the lead role. In 2006, Farhan Akhtar helmed together a reboot of the original film starring Shah Rukh Khan as Don. This film went on to be a big hit and in 2011, a sequel was made – Don 2: The King Is Back. There are rumors that the coming years could bring us the third installation to this series and we could be seeing King Khan back in action.

The Race Franchise

Three films have already been made under this franchise and a fourth one may come out later. Filled with crazy action sequences, lots of twists, betrayals, violence, and item numbers, the Race films check all the boxes that audiences look for in a Bollywood action film. Word is that 2021 will give us Race 4 and it will feature a star cast comprising Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Deepika Padukone to name a few. Do we need and deserve this fourth film? Only time will tell.

The Tiger Franchise

We can’t talk about action films and not include these two films starring Bhai. Ek Tha Tiger and Tiger Zinda Hai were superhit films. In fact, Tiger Zinda Hai went on to break the box office to become the eighth highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time. We also have reason to believe that there is a third film on the way. Come 2021, we will see if this becomes a reality.

Uri: The Surgical Strike

One of the highest-grossing films of last year, Uri: The Surgical Strike was brilliant in every way. It’s not a conventional action film like the others we have mentioned but it’s an action film that deserves a mention. Based on a real story, this film depicted the retaliation of the Indian Army to the 2016 Uri attacks.

The Baaghi Franchise

In 2016, director Sabbir Khan directed Baaghi starring Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor. Four years later, Baaghi is still a huge hit and we now have the third installment to this highly-successful franchise. Baaghi 3 reunites Tiger and Shraddha for yet another mind-blowing action experience.
