Directed and produced by Anwar Rasheed under the banner Anwar Rasheed Entertainments, Trance traverses through the life of Viju Prasad, a motivational speaker with a dark past. A major highlight of the movie is that Amal Neerad and Resul Pookutty are part of the crew in the roles of a cinematographer and a sound designer respectively. Viju Prasad (Fahadh Faasil) is a motivational speaker in a small city in Tamil Nadu. His brother’s death changes his life and mind completely. He befriends two businessmen, Solomon (Gautham Vasudev Menon) and Isaac (Chemban Vinod Jose), who offer him a fantastic job opportunity. Viju Prasad now becomes Joshua Carlton and the rest of the movie is about this transformation, how religion is brutally sold and the state of the human mind.

Fahadh Fassil gives a stunning performance

Fahadh Faasil, over the years, has proved how spectacular an actor he is and Trance is yet another feather in his cap. In fact, Viju Prasad aka Joshua Carlton is one of the best performances in his career to date. After Bangalore Days, Nazriya pairs up with Fahadh in Trance and delivers a power-packed performance. She has left her usual girl-next-door image behind and essayed something different, and it’s refreshing to watch. Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Gautham Menon, Vinod Jose, Dileesh Pothan, Vinayakan – everyone has given terrific performances. The first half of the film is terrific, all thanks to Fahadh and his brilliant act.

The writing and the music makes Trance a sure-shot winner

Sushin Shyam and Jackson Vijayan with their pumping background score keep the pace of the movie fast. Also, Jackson’s music blends well with the scenes and theme of the movie. Amal Neerad creates mesmerizing scenes with his camera. Anwar Rasheed has created a masterpiece out of Vincent Vadakkan’s powerful writing. Trance talks about two major aspects that most people dare not to touch – religion and mental health – and gives you a very important message on both.

Loses a little steam in places

Though the first half is terrific, the second half gets slightly dramatic and loses the pace. However, it still entertains you and keeps you on the edge of your seats until the very end.
