Created by Matt Groening, The Simpsons was first aired on Fox in 1989 and has been on TV ever since. The series is a satire on working-class American families, as represented by the Simpsons themselves.
With a 32nd season on its way, The Simpsons has been an juggernaut of popular culture for three decades, a winner of 34 Emmys and a major influence on the landscape of comedy in media. Over the last 30 years, generations of viewers all over the world have tuned in to see the antics of Homer, Marge and their children, Bart, Lisa and Maggie along with the cast of colourful (mostly yellow) characters in the town of Springfield. The show’s worldwide popularity has resulted in it being dubbed into 15 languages. The Simpsons Movie was translated into 31 different languages. In movie theatres, The Simpsons clan can be heard speaking Dutch, Mandarin, Cantonese, Thai and Greek for the first time. Now all episodes of the show are available on Disney+ Hotstar.
