The show delivers a swift, sharp account of 26/11

The show is a fast-paced capsule of the attack that took place in Mumbai on November 26, 2008, encompassing events from Ajmal Kasab’s life in Pakistan to the prominent role played by the NSG in fighting the terrorists. The three days of the attacks are well-documented across eight meaty episodes, laying out the role played by the police, the NSG and the media in trying to manage the situation.

NSG commandos are the stars of the show

The show focuses on the role the National Security Guard (NSG) commandos played in tackling the attack. While it briefly deals with the events that took place at Leopold Café, Cama Hospital and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the concentrates on the efforts taken by to evacuate people from the Taj Mahal Hotel and Chabad House in Colaba and gun down the terrorists. It raises questions about the role of the media in such sensitive situations. For instance, did the media unintentionally aid the terrorists in their mission? Did they sensationalise facts?

Even though there have been a number of movies and books on the attack, State of Siege is worth watching as it has a gripping narrative style aided by a versatile set of actors and a strong script. What you get is a deeper understanding of the events that took place across those three horrific days.
