What began as a day-long concert in 2008 has evolved into a two-day celebration of wine, music, fashion and food. The idyllic Sula Vineyards in Nashik has become the go-to destination for people to sit back and unwind, especially during the harvest season aka SulaFest!
For those of you who haven’t been to SulaFest before, it is an indie music festival held in an open-air amphitheatre. In other words, it is pure euphoria. This is probably the only festival in India that’s more about the festival experience than the line-up.
A lot has advanced about SulaFest since its inception besides its line-up and ticket prices. The festival has brilliantly explored elements no other festival in India has – music, culture, art, food and fashion. Here’s how SulaFest has metamorphosed over the years.
SulaFest 2008 – Wine and music!
The first edition was held on March 15, 2008 and saw the folk maestro Raghu Dixit and the electronic music duo Shaair n Func among other performers.
The first edition was so nascent that even the pictures taken at the festival were of not very high resolution.
This edition also had wine and food stalls, art stalls, and of course grape-stomping!
SulaFest 2009 – Wine, women and music!
The ambiance at the Greek style amphitheatre turned magical with Jalebee Cartel and Agnee‘s live collaboration.
Familiar faces such as Sapna Bhavnani and Sushma Reddy were seen at the festival.

The revelry was inaugurated by DJ Sasha, and was followed by Blackstratblues, Reggae Rajahs, Papon & The East India Company and others.
Day 2 saw the exceptional Sahej Bakshi aka Dualist Inquiry.
SulaFest 2013 – Wine, women and an electronic-heavy line up!

…and more grape-stomping!
