SuperBot: Short Film Review

What happens when a robot is scared of a tiny bug? Or when a magnifying glass actually enlarges the subject in real life? Well, SuperBot happens. Created by Trexel Animation, SuperBot is the story of a robot, who crosses paths with a tiny flea. You’d think the robot would squash it under it’s metallic foot, but quite to the contrary, the robot is petrified of the little guy.

The short film takes the popular adage “look at the bigger picture” quite literally, when it actually enlarges the little flea with a magnifying glass. The film itself, is a beautiful thing. With realistic imagery, it makes you question if the film is animation or stop motion. Like all Disney shorts, it’s got that subliminal message in the background, that somehow ties into reality.

The best part about SuperBot is its inherent simplicity – the expanding blue background, the simple background score and the uncomplicated story play together perfectly, delivering an almost cerebral experience, that teaches you to see the bigger picture.
