Taapsee Pannu made her big Bollywood debut in 2013 with David Dhawan’s Chashme Baddoor. The film, which also starred Siddharth, Ali Zafar, Divyendu Sharma, Rishi Kapoor and Anupam Kher, was a declared a semi-hit but did little for Pannu’s career. While she continued to impress in South Indian films, she had to wait for almost two years to work in her second Hindi movie. In Neeraj Pandey's Baby, Taapsee Pannu had just 20 minutes of screen time but her character made a powerful impact. Last year, it was the film Pink that changed her life forever. Since the movie dealt with a very important issue and had Amitabh Bachchan in the lead cast, it not only won critical acclaim but was a commercial success. Pannu also became the flagbearer of the statement ‘No Means No’. The whole cast of Pink became a household name but it was Taapsee who benefitted the most.
This year also began with a bang for the actress. She had back-to-back releases with Running Shaadi and The Ghazi Attack. Both the films did average business but it was a BookMyStyle video featuring Pannu that became a talking point. In the video, Swara Bhaskar and Taapsee Pannu discussed how much cleavage is good cleavage and it crossed a million views in no time.
Currently, Taapsee Pannu is busy promoting her film Naam Shabana, which has released today. The film is a spin-off of Baby and focuses on Pannu’s character – Shabana Khan. While she plays the protagonist, Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, and Danny Denzongpa will reprise their roles from the 2015 movie. Manoj Bajpayee and Prithviraj Sukumaran are the new additions to the cast. Pannu trained hard to make the action scenes look convincing and her effort is clearly seen. With Naam Shabana, Taapsee Pannu shows that she means business and is here to stay. Now that she has made a mark in Bollywood, we hope to see in even bigger and better films.
