Teen Amar Sitare: A Musical Tribute To The 70s Legends

Hindi cinema is filled with legends. But when it comes to the chocolate boys of the 60s and 70s, there are three names that everyone agrees on – Shammi Kapoor, Dev Anand and Rajesh Khanna. Their golden looks made them instant hits among the girls, and their films became cult classics and drove the nation crazy. A common factor among the three actors is that their movies almost always boasted of some truly beautiful musical numbers. These actors have danced to some memorable melodies and have worked with all the big names in the industry. From Mohammad Rafi to Kishore Kumar, everyone has lent them their voice. Shammi Kapoor, Dev Anand and Rajesh Khanna are the teen amar sitare of the Hindi film industry that will shine on forever.

O Haseena Zulfonwali Jaane Jahan – Teesri Manzil (1966)
Although all the songs from Teesri Manzil are worth mentioning here, O Haseena Zulfonwali Jaane Jahan is a special one. With R.D. Burman‘s composition and Mohammed Rafi‘s voice in the background, Shammi Kapoor gave us an electrifying performance which is still remembered today. 

Aaj Kal Tere Mere Pyar Ke – Brahmachari (1968)
It was on everyone’s lips the year it released and is still an absolute classic. Mohammed Rafi sang as Shammi Kapoor danced to this Shankar Jaikishen tune. 

Gata Rahe Mera Dil – Guide (1965)
With  S.D. Burman‘s composition, Kishore Kumar‘s voice, and Dev Anand‘s effortless style, this song has a melody that never grows old. 

Yeh Dil Na Hota Bechara – Jewel Thief (1967)
Shot with Dev Anand and Tanuja, Yeh Dil Na Hota Bechara is one of the songs in which Kishore Kumar‘s yodelling delights.  A peppy number with Dev Anand‘s evergreen expressions that make you fall in love with him all over again. 

Mere Sapno Ki Rani – Aradhana (1969)
Originally, the song was supposed to be sung by Mohammed Rafi but eventually Kishore Kumar sung this number and what followed was instant superstardom for Rajesh Khanna and the singer.

Yeh Shaam Mastani – Kati Patang (1970)
R.D. Burman‘s composition and Kishore Kumar‘s versatile voice with Rajesh Khanna‘s expressions gave this song the perfect romantic feel.
