Karan Johar is one of the biggest producers in Bollywood. His production house, Dharma Productions, is something every actor/director wants to work with. While initially most of the Dharma films were directed by Karan himself, over the last few years, the director has produced films by many debutant directors. KJo not only backs their vision but is also known to be a non-interfering producer. Even if their first project failed, Karan was sweet enough to give them another chance. Johar fondly calls them the Dharma Boys and often posts pictures with them. Don’t know who they are? Read on and find out.
Ayan is definitely one of the most successful directors of Dharma Productions. Both his films, Wake Up Sid and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani starred Ranbir Kapoor and were big hits. Ayan‘s next, too, will feature the Kapoor scion. The movie is tentatively titled Dragon and will have RK playing a superhero.
Karan‘s first film Agneepath was a blockbuster, but his next, Brothers, failed to work the same magic. He was also supposed to direct KJo’s most ambitious project Shuddhi, but due to a constant change in cast, the makers have decided to shelve the project for now.
Abhishek‘s cinematic adaptation of Chetan Bhagat‘s novel, Two States, was a box-office success. The director hasn’t announced his next project, but it is reported that it will most likely have Alia Bhatt in it.
While Punit’s I Hate Luv Storys did average business, his next film, Gori Tere Pyaar Mein was a box-office disaster. Even after being backed by Dharma, Punit failed to deliver. We doubt if KJo will be generous enough to give him another film.
The 2014 hit, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania was helmed by Shashank. That was his first film with Dharma, and it starred Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. Shashank has signed the jodi for his next project, too, and it should go on floors soon.
