The Indo-Pak Peace Prize goes to…

When it comes to India versus Pakistan, we tend to get a little crazy. Whether it’s a cricket match or a movie, we enjoy all the drama and spice! Over the years, Bollywood has given us plenty of movies about the India-Pakistan conflict. Although they aren’t all bad, these films only focused on war and… well, more wars. From Anil Sharma’s Gadar to J. P. Dutta’s Border, they were all blockbuster films about Indo-Pak relations. But recently, a new generation of filmmakers are focusing on a different aspect of the Indo-Pak relationship. And these films are actually good- a refreshing break from the usual potboilers.

Here are four such films:

Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Filmistaan presents a story beyond the borders, and delivers a positive message about life. Layered with brilliant performances and a unique story line, Filmistaan remains in your heart, long after you watch it.  It’s a feel-good movie about human emotions, friendship, and of course, Bollywood.

Kya Dilli Kya Lahore

Kya Dilli Kya Lahore is Vijay Raaz’s directorial debut. Even though the film is set in the backdrop of a war, there’s no blood and gore in the film. In fact, we’re treated with good humour by the actors: Vijay Raaz, Manu Rishi and Raj Zutshi. Also, the film is sprinkled with beautiful poetry by Gulzar. This is a film for all ages.

War Chhod Na Yaar

Tagged as India’s first war comedy, War Chhod Na Yaar is a film which makes you laugh out loud. At times, the film gets a little preachy, but it’s an enjoyable movie. The film focuses on the plight of Indian and Pakistani soldiers, in a humorous way. Through the film, the director pushes the message of fraternity and universal brotherhood.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan

The latest to join this list is Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan! Described by some as Salman Khan’s best work, Bajrangi Bhaijaan is roaring at the box office. The film minted 169.07 crores in the first week itself! It follows the heartwarming story of Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi and Munni, and has a strong social message for everyone.
