The Terrible tale of Hollywood’s most cursed films

Being in the movie business can be a little haunting. Especially when you’re part of creepy horror films! Not only does evil lurk in the story of these films, but also off sets! These films are riddled with bad luck even during the post production stages. Mysterious accidents, deaths, and even spooky stuff haunt these films – is this coincidence or are these films cursed? Here are few films that may have been possibly cursed!

1. Poltergeist trilogy (1982, 1986, 1988)

Undoubtedly the most cursed film in history, the Poltergeist series was heavily cursed. It is reported that several cast members died after the shoot of the film. Within 6 years after the films released, Dominique Dunn, who played the role of the older sister, was killed by his ex-boyfriend. Julian Beck died of stomach cancer. The freakiest of them all? Will Sampson, who starred in Poltergeist II, performed an exorcism of the set and died a year after the film was released.

2. The Omen

Soon after the film released, the VFX director and his girlfriend were involved in a horrific car crash that led to his girlfriend’s death. One of the characters of the film died in a similar way. Reportedly, the sign seen after the wreckage read – Omen 66 km. And the date of the incident? Friday, the 13 of August, 1976. Spooky indeed!

3. The Exorcist

The set of The Exorcist burned down and ended up delaying the film for six weeks. Call this a curse or coincidence? A crew member and a VFX director died on the sets of the film. The crew freaked out, so much so that they invited a priest to come to the sets and have a prayer for them. The priest blessed the film. And there weren’t any disturbances after that. But that was not it. During the screening of the film people suffered heart attacks, one woman even had a miscarriage.

4. Rosemary’s Baby

The producer of the film received a hate letter which read: “Bastard. Believer of Witchcraft. Worshiper at the Shrine of Satanism. My prediction is you will slowly rot during a long and painful illness which you have brought upon yourself.” The prophesy came true. The producer died a year after the film’s release.

5. The Passion Of Christ

The lead actor of the film, James Caviezel suffered a shoulder dislocation while performing the crucifixion scene. It got worse for him! The actor also had a terrible skin infection from the makeup used on him. The other crew members weren’t spared either. The film’s assistant director, Jan Michelini was struck by lightning during the shoot of the film.

6. Superman Franchise

Superman aka Christopher Reeves suffered an ill-fate! A freak horse riding incident left him paralyzed. His Lois Lane, Margot Kidder suffered a mental illness.

Luckily the curse wasn’t carried over by the latest versions of these films. But we can’t be sure yet. Is there any other film you would like to add to this list?
