Atlee
Before making his debut with Raja Rani, Atlee assisted director Shankar in popular films like Enthiran and Nanban. He also worked on a few short films,; one such is Mugaputhagam. Starring actor Sivakarthikeyan, this short film shone light on the crimes committed via social media.
Karthik Subbaraj
Karthik Subbaraj is the filmmaker who brought the horror genre back to Tamil cinema with his debut feature film, Pizza. He then went on to make the gangster film, Jigarthanda, that got him critical acclaim and nationwide recognition. He was also declared the winner of a talent hunt for budding filmmakers. Nalan Kumarsamy’s debut feature film turned out to be a cult classic. Starring Vijay Sethupathi, Soodhu Kavvum was a massive hit, and was remade in Telugu. It will be remade in Kannada and Hindi as well. But before all this, his journey into the film world began with short films. Alphonse Putharan
He may be only two films old but Alphonse Putharen is a familiar name in two film industries – Mollywood and Kollywood. His film Premam turned out to be the biggest blockbuster of 2015. The filmmaker also started his film journey with short films. This short film titled The Angel is an engaging watch due to its lead actors Vijay Sethupathi and National Award-winning actor Bobby Simha.
Balaji Mohan
Before making the quirky action drama, Maari, Balaji Mohan made his feature film debut with Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi. It was a full-length version of his short film of the same name. The short film starred Regina Cassandra and Adith Arun. This romantic comedy is sure to put a smile on your face.
