Weddings are those special occasions that many women look forward to since childhood. They have a lot of grand plans they have and things they want for their special day. Bollywood and Disney surely haven’t helped by only inflating their dreams of a fairy tale wedding. But, do Bollywood stars have Bollywood-style shaadis or are they quiet affairs with friends and families? Honestly, both. Some choose to have grand affairs while others have hush-hush and secret weddings away from the glaring eyes of the media. Weddings now have dresses from the top designers and even the simplest weddings have grand stages or picturesque locations. But was that always the case, let’s take a look at some retro Bollywood weddings.
Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri
They will celebrate 43 years of their marriage on 3rd June. Almost half-a-century, their marriage has lasted, which is quite a feat in these times. Jaya Bachchan wore a gold embedded red saree to her wedding and Bachchan can be seen wearing a simple off-white sherwani. And we can see that the wedding was a very hush-hush one.
Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu
Saira Banu fell in love with Dilip Kumar at the age of 12 and has been in love ever since. She married Dilip Kumar at the age of 22 in the year 1966. Dilip Saab was 44 years old then. Saira Banu looked beautiful at what looks like a grand wedding and Dilip Saab looked every bit the dashing man he was.
Dharmendra and Hema Malini
It is a well-known fact that it was Dharmendra’s second marriage but, they have been very strong together since. They had a very quiet wedding and the news wasn’t even leaked until a few days later to the media. Hema Malini looked ever the glamorous bride whereas Dharmendra decided to go very simple going with the theme of the wedding.
Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh
When your family is considered a dynasty in Bollywood, you cannot settle with a quiet affair. You then need a grand wedding with grander sets and heavy garments.
Jackie Shroff and Ayesha Dutt
They dated for almost a decade before deciding to tie the knot and it worked out well because they are still going strong.
