Throwback Thursday: Where Was Bollywood In February 2011?

You must now be used to waking up with Facebook reminding you about memories that you have shared over the years. Some of those might bring a smile to your face and your day is off to a better start. Some just reopen old wounds that you obviously don’t want. And some just make you want to face-palm your face with a chair. Worry not, you are not the only one. Everyone has a fair share of the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to memories. And you have to admit, that whatever they are, it is always entertaining when you revisit those memories. Presenting to you the best of Bollywood in February, 2011.

Lara Dutta tied the knot with Mahesh Bhupathi on 16th February, 2011. Lara Dutta was crowned Miss Universe in the year 2000 and has worked in many Hindi movies since then. The happy couple also launched their own production house with the movie Chalo Dilli, which received mixed reviews from critics and audiences.

We recently saw them return, but can you believe it’s been five years since we first met them? R. Madhavan playing an NRI doctor and the small town girl (Ranaut) captured our hearts then and we wanted more of them. Their return in 2015 with Kangana Ranaut playing a double role hasn’t disappointed us.

Susanna weds…

Based on a short story Susanna’s Seven Husbands by Ruskin Bond, 7 Khoon Maaf depicts a woman getting away with 7 murders. It is presented in such a way that you actually don’t blame her for any of them. Priyanka Chopra did a marvelous job as she went through the transformation from a young girl to a mature woman searching for true love. Although the film was appreciated by critics at the time, the audience didn’t take to it. Still, the film proved to be a turning point in Priyanka Chopra’s career.
Usha Uthup also received her first Filmfare Award for the song Darling from this movie, and her acceptance speech was followed by a standing ovation. A moment for your tear ducts to open up!

Directed by Sudhir Mishra and starring Irrfan Khan, Chitrangda Singh and many more, this film is still considered to be one of the best films to be produced that year. It is one of those films which restores your faith in Bollywood.
