The short film follows one man’s 3-day-long revenge fantasy that doesn’t go exactly as planned. When a wealthy, powerful man (Oscar Isaac) finds out that his girlfriend has cheated on him, he will stop at nothing to get even. Fortunately, he has a trusty sidekick. Unfortunately, things don’t always go according to plan.
With its minimalistic set, Ticky Tacky is reminiscent of a bottle episode. Though these can usually go either way, the restrained setting works in the short film’s favor. Without distracting extras or over-the-top set design, the film is able to truly focus on its characters. Because of this, it manages to flesh them out and make their stories worth focusing on.
Needless to say, Ticky Tacky also features great performances to back up the stellar script. Oscar Isaac is marvelous as the eccentric and irrational protagonist. In fact, his performance is only rivaled by Julian Shatkin, who plays his adorable yet deadly sidekick. If you’ve ever wanted to take revenge but chickened out at the last minute, you will not be disappointed by Ticky Tacky:
