The Toilet: Ek Prem Katha trailer was out yesterday. Slated to release on August 11, the movie stars Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles. The film was initially supposed to hit the theatres on June 2 but was postponed since the makers felt the weekend around Independence Day would be a better bet. So it looked like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was going to clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Harry Met Sejal but now the latter will come out on August 4.
Toilet: Ek Prem Katha tells the story of a village boy who marries the girl he loves. While everything seems hunky-dory, his wife realizes that there’s no toilet at his home. Women defecate in the fields and she is expected to do so too. Hell breaks loose and she decides to move back to her parent's place. The rest of the movie shows how the hero decides to build a toilet in the village even if it means fighting his own family.
This would be Akshay Kumar’s second film this year after Jolly LLB 2. The actor has now started working on satires and that decision has clearly worked in his favor. Even his next movie – Padman – is based on the life of social entrepreneur Arunachalam Muruganantham. Keep checking this space to read about the Toilet: Ek Prem Katha review.
