2 Food Walks You Need To Keep an Eye Out For

We love food. We don’t discriminate between veg and non-veg, healthy and unhealthy, local and international – if it is edible, we want it! That is why we bring you the best of it all – food walks, food tours, sit-down meals, buffets and all kinds of food this city has to offer. We have covered various food events in the past, and it will be an understatement to say that we enjoyed them all. So let our reviews and pictures do the talking.

The Bohri Kitchen

Started in December 2014, The Bohri Kitchen is a unique concept by Munaf Kapadia, famous for their authentic home-cooked Muslim Bohri cuisine. The food is prepared by Munaf’s mother Nafisa, who is known for her delicious dishes, which will have you licking your fingers.

We were lucky enough to be a part of the Ramadan Special organized by TBK a few months ago. Alternating between kharaas and meethas, we indulged in a variety of Ramzan delicacies – from cutlets, to samosas, to shahi rolls, to a delectable phirni. And all of this was just the starters. The main course comprised of mutton khichda, raan, and chicken dum biryani. The perfect end to the meal was a homemade saancha ice cream, served with meetha paan.

Seek Sherpa

Based in Delhi, this mobile marketplace brings you the best in food, travel, shopping, nightlife and more. In Mumbai, Seek Sherpa is known for organizing some of the best food trails in the city. From Southern cuisine to local Parsi food, to delicious kebabs – they cover them all! And we had the grand opportunity to join them on one of their tours.

Titled Yenna Rascala, this food walk around Matunga gave us a taste of the succulent Southern cuisine of eateries like Cafe Madras and Mani's Lunch Home. A grand meal, which began with the sweet Pongal, was even served in Southern style. With food placed on banana leaves, we proceeded to eat idlis with gunpowder, filter kaapi, Mysore sada dosa, chaas, kadi vada and pineapple sheera – in that order. And this was only part of the tour.
