Verdict: A fairytale that has been told countless times.
It’s said that some things can never get old. Sadly, the same cannot be said about the premise on which the film is built upon. The age old formula of cracks surfacing in an emotionless marriage leading to the couple separating only to find themselves tucked back in by fate. It’s been done and dusted numerous times now, especially in Marathi films. Swapna Waghmare Joshi’s light-hearted comedy takes the same route.
The film relies heavily on the cliched genre of ‘re-discover yourself’. Rahul (Subodh Bhave) and Anjali (Sonalee Kulkarni) are not your average happily married couples. In fact, they fight. A lot! It has come to a point that slightest of things irk either of them and eventually they decide to divorce each other. But fate (as usual) has different plans for the both of them. They accidentally happen to be together on a trip to Goa which inadvertently leads them to Nagpur and Mumbai back again. And in the process rediscovering their lost love for each other.
To be honest, the mastery in acting by the two lead actors saves this movie. For a plot that’s predictable from the word ‘go’ is only revived by the quirkiness and idiosyncrasies these two lead actors bring to the table. The on-screen chemistry is what will probably keep you going.
The rest of ensemble is forgettable and seem forced to add a comic relief.
Having said, all of that the movie has a few redeemable qualities. The music especially plays a key role in setting the tone and manages to engross you in those cute character moments. So if you someone who’s big on songs and soundtracks then this movie won’t disappoint you on that front.
Why You Should Watch This Movie: The concept of the movie is simple and relatable for everyday couples, something you might want to enjoy with your partner this weekend. Watch it for the performances and sweet, enjoyable music.
