Lagaan(2003): The sports movie which made its way from India to the Oscars in the category of best foreign language film , but sadly lost to another brilliant film , No Man’s Land. This is the story of a group of villagers who play a cricket to get rid of the taxes they had to pay in the times when British ruled India.
Iqbal(2005): A simple villager boy who becomes a main bowler of Indian cricket team, Iqbal is the journey of dreams and conviction to achieve them. Brilliant performance by Shreyas Talpade and Naseeruddin Shah as a troubled alcoholic coach.
Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander(1992): Remember the times when we were in school and there used to be a inter school competition. The story of a reckless guy who finally tries to win the Inter college bicycle race in the end to claim victory. A profound story of love , brotherhood and finding out the strength to achieve it.
Awwal Number(1990) :One of those early sports movies based on cricket, this starred Amir Khan and Aditya Pancholi along with the legendary Dev Anand (he directed it also) . A captivating story of professional rivalry among competitors and eventually excelling at the occasion when it matters the most .
