He also starred in a Tamil TV series called Penn aired on Sun TV. Around the same time he starred in a lot of short-films like Thuru, Wind, Angel and Kadhal Suttru.
After his debut as the lead actor in Thenmerku Paruvakaatru, Sethupathi was cast in the horror flick Pizza (2012) directed by Karthik Subbaraj had a successful run at the box office and so did his next film titled Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom (2012), both of which turned Sethupathi into a popular name in Tamil cinema.
The year 2012 saw a change in the kind of movies Vijay was offered. He did some critically and commercially successful movies like Soodhu Kavvum (2013), Pannaiyarum Padminiyum (2014).
In the year 2016, Vijay was seen in the hit cop film Sethupathi (2016) which was a commercial entertainer just like his other 2016 movies such as Iraivi, Dharma Durai and Aandavan Kattalai.
His upcoming film Puriyaatha Puthir was all set for a Pongal release this weekend alongside Bairavaa but has been postponed for a later date.
