5 Reasons To Watch Mom

Mom, which stars SrideviAkshaye KhannaNawazuddin Siddiqui and Sajal Ali releases tomorrow. The film is touted to be as edgy and gripping as the Vidya Balan-starrer Kahaani. There have also been reports suggesting that Mom and Maatr, which came out earlier this year, have similar story lines. The reviews are out and Mom is clearly one of the best Hindi thrillers in the recent past. Planning to watch it this weekend? Here are 5 reasons why you need to book your tickets now.

Sridevi’s performance

Mom is Sridevi’s next film after the 2012 comedy drama English Vinglish. The actress clearly is particular about the movies she chooses and instead of going on a signing spree, she works on one project at a time. Sridevi is top notch in Mom, where she plays a mother who goes to any lengths for her daughter's love. We only wish the actress would sign more movies, so we could see her on screen more often.

Supporting cast

While Sridevi carries the film on her shoulders, she is very well supported by Akshaye KhannaNawazuddin Siddiqui, and Sajal Ali. The three actors play their part to perfection, adding value to the film. Nawaz, in particular, is outstanding and his character will give you the chills.

Music

If A. R. Rahman works on the soundtrack of a film, you know the songs are going to be on your playlist for a while. The tracks in movie complement the premise and we suggest you hear them now.

Direction

A perfectly good script can be ruined if the execution isn’t great. Kudos to Ravi Udyawar, who makes a stunning directorial debut with Mom. It seems hard to believe that it is his first film and it is certain that he’ll be a front-runner for the Best Debut Director at the next awards season.

Edge-of-the-seat thriller

Even though Mom has its dramatic moments, you’ll gasp on more than more occasion during the film. The twists and turns are aplenty, leaving you shocked at the proceedings. If you love thrillers, you have no good reason to give Mom a miss.
