For more than 20 years, Tirthankar Poddar aka 2Blue has been unswervingly focused on paying his respect to his roots, all channelled through a band that takes no prisoners. With a voice that can go from a whisper to a scream, and live performances well over 1000, 2Blue has helped celebrate new beginnings, annual days, award ceremonies, and farewells of thousands of people in MNCs, proprietary businesses, TV studios, night clubs, music festivals, schools, and colleges from Guwahati to Rajkot, Manipal to Varanasi, and countless points in between.
From fronting the iconic rock band Vayu to going solo very successfully, 2Blue's career is chronicled by much-talked-about live performances, notable among which are those with Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal of Guns N' Roses, Paul Di'Anno of Iron Maiden, George Lynch of Dokken, and Jonas Hellborg from Mahavishnu Orchestra. Other key milestones in his career include: 'Best Band' at ArtistAloud Awards, Mumbai and 'Asian Anthem of the Year' at AVIMA, Kuala Lumpur. But 2Blue never paused to celebrate. Restless and hungry to break new ground, he turned a new leaf blending the sounds of Indian cinema with rock. And that has been a decided asset in his inexorable rise to the top.
Other job titles that 2Blue has held include Radio Jockey, Actor, and Vice President (of Marketing). Having played Judas in the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar, he has been trained by Alyque Padamsee, Shiamak Davar, Sabira Merchant, and Karla Klossher. 2Blue also played 'Tina Bilkis' in the ZEE5 original 'Akoori' thereby bringing attention to the LGBT community in India. His high-octane live performances combine histrionics, storytelling, visuals, and music to create an experience that has been described as life-altering. In his own words, "Whether it is music I created or not, I will remain committed to performing live!"
