The aim of this tour that is hosted via SeekSherpa is to give you a firsthand experience of a colony of indigenous potters in New Delhi
. These are traditional artisans from Rajasthan supporting the dying, yet gorgeous art of pottery
You will begin the walk at Uttam Nagar East Metro station from where you will proceed directly to 'Kumhar Gram' which literally means 'Potter's village'. This is the largest community of potters in India, consisting of traditional artisans who have settled in Delhi for generations.
You will walk around the village, while the host talks to you about the community, their stories, the current state of affairs, interesting trivia and some philosophies and conspiracy theories.
You will then be interacting with some of the potters - you can try your hand at pottery making, work with women in kneading clay, carve or paint of pots. Get to know these artists up-close and appreciate what they make and experience it yourself!
