About The Bombay Chamber Orchestra:

The Bombay Chamber Orchestra is India’s longest functioning orchestra, performing western classical music, which has regaled Mumbai’s concert audiences with more than 200 concerts over the last 57 years.  It has also performed in several other Indian cities and in Sri Lanka.  The orchestra comprises of local musical talent who are trained in the techniques of orchestral performance and its performances provide a platform to its musicians to gain live performing experience and display their talents.

The Cathedral Choir (Conductor: Mario Nazareth) is one of Mumbai’s foremost choral groups.  In its traditional avatar, the Choir is the parish choir of the Cathedral of the Holy Name with an undoubted focus on sacred music.  However, this has not deterred it from attempting secular compositions, mainly with the intent to improve its repertoire and enhance its musicality.  The Choir has participated in several public performances of great choral masterpieces with the Bombay Chamber Orchestra, including a recent program that included Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy and select compositions by the Beatles.  It has also done full-house performances of religious and secular music; and has been privileged to collaborate with Louis Bank and Gary Lawyer in two fund-raising concerts.
