This workshop is divided into two parts: 1.5 hours of Feldenkrais (subtle movements) followed by 1.5 hours of improvised movement/dance workshop conducted by French dancer and Feldenkrais therapist Michel Casanovas.
Feldenkrais is a movement-based method, which is popular for its profound effect on how body and mind work. Through subtle movements, the method aims to reorganize connections between the brain and body and so improve body movement and psychological state.
Feldenkrais helps to realign posture and gain a healthy body-mind connection. It is a powerful tool to gain more awareness and let this reflect in our day-to- day behavior. It is an excellent too especially for dancers and actors who work with their body.
The second half of the workshop explores faster-paced, dance-oriented movements. Michel will guide the students through this improvised dancing session. Michel has been working as a dancer and choreographer since 1982 and has worked in Belgium, France, Switzerland as well as all over India. He has over a decade of experience as Feldenkrais teacher working in Bangalore, Bombay, Calcutta and Delhi. His work, based on strong thematic in human being condition, reveals a sensitive and creative approach of dance through specific movement research and improvisation.
Michel also combines his dance experience and the Feldenkrais Method in workshops, to offer the participants a space of creativity and self-discovery. Through slow movement explorations from the Feldenkrais Method and variations of actions in a larger range, he leads people from functionality to a better quality of movement.
