Check the diversity of making a Durga idol for your Parar Puja along with the tradition involved in making an idol in a traditional manner in some reputed traditional houses. You will be guided by an expert as you discover the magic with your eyes and with your lens.
Meet at morning 7:00 in front of HSBC Ultodanga/Kankurgachi. Have light breakfast in a nearby sweet shop.
You will be escorted to a famous artist's workshop in the vicinity (not Kumortuli). This will be not be swarming with photographers, so you can check out the idol making procedure at ease and take photographs. There will be chit chat with the main artist as well. You will see the various patterns and styles of making a Barowari Thakur. This session will take around 45 minutes to 1 hour.
After that session, you will be escorted to two to three traditional houses where the idol will have its own specialty. Here you will see the idol being made in the same traditional way over the years. The houses will be between Shovabazar Rajbari, Beadon Street Dutta Bari, Sreemany Bari, Rajabazar Mookherjee Bari, Thanthania Dutta Bari, Chorbagan Chatterjee Bari and Laha Bari.
