Compositions on Holi by Subhra Guha

Holi captures the spirit of exhilaration in each one’s heart, whether it is the song of a young couple in love, the bride or the eternal epic love of Radha and Krishna. Holi is the time to celebrate with colour, music, dance and energy unleashed. This concert seeks to recreate the unbounded spirit of Holi that is intrinsic in the melody, rhythms and literature of myriad music compositions performed in North India. Trained under veterans like Sunil Bose, Subhra Guha is one of the senior-most female vocalists of Agra gharana. She is also adept in Poorab ang thumri and has performed widely at home and overseas. With her vast repertoire from classical and semi-classical music, Guha will create the splendour of this colourful festival with a bouquet of compositions of khayal, hori-damar, thumri, dadra etc. depicting the festival of Holi.
