Decoupage is an art and a craft. It involves gluing paper shapes on to an object and sealing the surface with glue. The shapes you glue can be simple or they can be complex. They can be patterns you design yourself, or those you buy, or even hand-painted works of art.
You'll see that decoupage can enhance everyday objects such as hairbrushes, kitchenware or just about anything which is lying in your home or garage. It can basically transform almost anything into a magical piece of art.
This art is not just about sticking a piece of paper to any object. Creating a beautiful composition and maintaining a good visual balance in design is what makes a beautiful piece of art. So, you can explore your creative skills in this workshop.
You can create art to exhibit and sell, or set up shop locally or on the Internet to sell your wares and supplies.
So, this one-day intensive hands-on workshop will teach you the basics and advanced techniques of decoupaging. You'll be working with/on different material, learn about the types of glues you can work with, layering, composition, balance, cutting methods, distressing, dabbing, sanding, spraying, varnishing, antique and contemporary style and much more.
You'll be working on:
A Terracotta Pot
An MDF Box (vintage/antique finish)
A Porcelain Mug
A Glass Bottle
Coasters (Two pieces with two different materials)
A Door hanger or Placemat (depending on availability of stock) and
A Glass plate (Reverse Decoupage) (This one would be a demo or hands-on depending on time)
