The Bharatiya Samagana Sabha takes immense pleasure in announcing the opening of this year's 'Abhijnana Thyagaraja Sangeetham'in Bangalore
, showcasing renowned artists in Carnatic music
. The year 2017 not only marks the 8th year of the Music Festival being organized successfully, but also the 250th birth anniversary of Saint Thyagaraja, one of the trinities who spread devotion through Carnatic music. To be held between February 15 and 19, 2017, the music festival boasts of several themes, the newest being the Samagana Dhanavantri Raga concert series. The series seeks to pioneer the connection between music and its salubrious effect on health within the ambience of a concert. Supporting us in this exciting exploration are mental health practitioners, general physicians, children with special needs as well as the general public.
A second prominent theme is the Yuva Savishkara concert series to foster young musical genius. The concert also enjoys patronage by Doordarshan, which records the concert for late telecast.
Another important component of the Musical Festival is the Thyagaraja and Purandaradasa Aradhana, which will be telecast live by Doordarshan.
In keeping with the spirit of recognizing dedicated service to Carnatic music, the Music Festival will honor an exponent with the Samagana Mathanga National Award. Whilst Shri Hari Prasad Chaurasia was bestowed with the award last year, Vidushi Sudha Raghunathan has been chosen to receive this year's Samagana Mathanga National Award.Language :Karnatik concerts:
