If we trace the origins of the symbols of the Marathi language, the journey takes us back to before the 10th century AD. The flow of Marathi literature has continued since Mukundraj's "Vivek Sindhu" and "Lilacharitra." In 1974, V. S. Khandekar was awarded the Jnanpith Award for "Yayati," which was Maharashtra's first Jnanpith. After that, V. V. Shirwadkar received the Jnanpith in 1987 for "Natsamrat," Vinda Karandikar in 2003 for "Ashtadarshan," and more recently in 2014, Bhalchandra Nemade was honored with the Jnanpith for "Hindu - Jagnyachi Samruddha Adgal."
This program will explore not only the Jnanpith-winning works of these four authors from Maharashtra but also their other literary contributions. Prominent artists from Maharashtra will present readings of these literary works, and there will also be musical performances based on some of this literature. The attempt is to unfold the rich and esteemed literary contributions of these four senior, distinguished writers from Maharashtra for the audience through a unified thread
